Anesthesia Bill Pay and Billing Questions
Pay your CVA anesthesia bill online or get answers to your billing questions.
Why Did I Receive a Separate Anesthesia Bill?
Anesthesia services are billed separately from the surgical facility and surgeon fees because anesthesia providers are often a separate practice group. When you have a surgical procedure, you may receive three separate bills: one from the facility where the procedure was performed, one from the surgeon, and one from the anesthesia team. Each bill reflects the professional services provided by that group.

Surprise Billing Protections
Federal and California state laws protect patients from unexpected medical bills in certain situations:
- No Surprises Act (Federal): Protects patients from surprise bills when receiving emergency care or scheduled care at in-network facilities from out-of-network providers. You are only responsible for in-network cost-sharing amounts.
- California AB 72: Provides additional protections for California patients receiving non-emergency services from out-of-network providers at in-network facilities. Patients are held harmless for the balance above the in-network rate.
Self-Pay and Payment Plan Options
If you are uninsured or have limited coverage, contact CVA's billing team at (866) 406-4558 to discuss self-pay pricing and payment plan arrangements. CVA is committed to working with patients on billing concerns.
Insurance and Coverage Questions
If you have questions about your insurance coverage for anesthesia services, start by contacting your insurance carrier. Have your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) available. If your insurance carrier directs you back to CVA, contact our billing team with your account number and insurance information, and we will assist in resolving the question.
